Farmers Insurance raising rates in Texas
If your home is insured with Farmers, you may want to hold on to the stimulus package check before you splurge on that sofa. You may need to give some of that money to your home insurance. According to a story by the Houston Chronicle, Farmers is planning to raise its home insurance rates by 3-13% all over the State of Texas in May of this year. Harris County is expected to get hit with a 9% hike. According to Farmers, this move is intended to ensure that the company would be able to meet its obligations in regards to "higher than normal" re-insurance costs and to account for any future events that might happen.
I think they're just thinking it's about that time for some more money.
